Additional information on certain types of research

The legislation for medical/scientific research with human subjects is not the same for all types of research. Additional requirements apply in certain instances.

  1. Research with a medicinal product
  2. Vaccine research
  3. Research on the development of cell therapy
  4. Research on gene therapy, other products that specifically influence the functioning of the genetic material, naked DNA/ (m)RNA or a medicinal product with GMO
  5. Research with a product containing living (micro-)organisms or viruses directly aimed at combating disease-causing factors
  6. Research with medical devices
  7. Research with subjects under the age of 16 years (children)
  8. Research with incapacitated subjects
  9. Research with gametes and/or (leftover) embryos
  10. Research involving fetuses, pregnant and/or breastfeeding women
  11. Research with ionizing radiation
  12. Non-WMO research
  13. Other types of research
