Update 21 October 2026, 18:45: Both the Research Portal and the onderzoekmetmensen.nl website are now available again.
Serious security issues have been discovered in PHP, software that is widely used by websites and online systems. These issues could potentially allow hackers to gain unauthorized access to systems. The Dutch news organisation NOS has also reported on these security issues (in Dutch): NOS nieuws: websites kwetsbaar voor softwarelek.
To protect our systems and our users' data, we have temporarily taken the Research Portal and onderzoekmetmensen.nl website offline as a precaution.
We are doing everything we can to restore the Research Portal and the onderzoekmetmensen.nl website as quickly as possible. As soon as security updates become available today, we will begin installing them. Once the updates have been installed and verified, the systems will be brought back online. At this time, it is not yet possible to indicate exactly when this will take place.
