Today, 28 September 2026, new versions of the model research protocol have been published. Both the template for WMO research (C1) and CTR research (D1) have been updated.
An overview of the changes is provided on the first page of the documents.
Information on patient participation has been added to both templates. In the WMO protocol, the questions regarding patient participation from the ABR form have been included. Patients/research participants should be involved from the very start of a research protocol’s development. By including the questions on patient participation in the research protocol, this can be identified earlier.
It is strongly recommended to start using the new version of the templates immediately and, when updating a protocol, review whether changes are needed in the sections that have been modified in the new template.
