European Commission agrees to postpone MDR by one year

Due to the corona crisis, the European Commission has accepted the proposal to postpone the commencing date of the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) by one year.

However, the proposal still has to be submitted to the European Council and the European Parliament for agreement. If they accept the proposal, the MDR will be applicable as of 26 May 2021. Initially, the MDR was to come into effect in just over a month and a half, but this is unlikely to happen.

As soon as a final decision has been taken, this will be published on the CCMO website.
