EU clinical trial portal expected to go live in 2020

The EU portal and database for clinical trials are expected to go live in 2020. This was announced by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The EU portal and the database are under development for the implementation of EU Clinical Trial Regulation 536/2014 (CTR). Once the CTR is effective, the medical ethical review of clinical trials will be a joint responsibility of all concerned EU member states.

The EU portal and database are now ready for testing. The user acceptance test will take place in early 2019. The audit of the system will take place after the EMA has relocated to Amsterdam. After a succesful audit and review by the EMA Management Board, the CTR will become effective six months after publication.
